Catherine & Georgia arrived on the Sunday 28th December at Plevna Station, Augathella, the following day we drove to Rock Hole just outside of Charleville, and had a beautiful overnight camp and great fun in the waterhole. Next stop was Surrat on the Balonne river, great spot, we camped up on the boat ramp side & spent many hours in the water. There was a great ablution block, BBQs, fire pits, picnic tables & a cute donation box across the road in a large free park – Fishermans Park which was being utilised by a number of campers & caravans. After Surrat, Catherine & Georgia went home to Beenleigh, Peter & I to Ipswich, got to visit family for 7 days then Pittsworth for a couple of great nights with rellies. A quick trip to Mt. Isa trying to beat the flooded roads then onto Darwin. Along the way we camped up at at Wallumbilla Showgrounds, another amazing free camp located 40klms east of Roma & 380klms west of Brisbane.
Drove past the Walk-About Hotel at McKinley, the hotel that was made famous by the movie Crocodile Dundee.
